Do I need planning permission? Usually not. Most patios, sheds and garden buildings go under permitted development. The exceptions are new hard surfaces over 5m² in a front garden that don’t drain into the garden, outbuildings over 2.5m tall within 2m of a boundary, raised decking over 30cm, and anything in a conservation area. We check this at the quote stage.

Common questions

Can you combine a patio with a wider garden makeover?

Yes. Most of our patios are part of a bigger garden job, but we’re just as happy to quote for a patio on its own.

Do you design the garden, or just build it?

Both. We can work from your own plan, or work out the layout with you as part of the quote.

Can you do the garden after an extension?

Yes. One family asked us back to redo their garden about six months after we built their extension.

Do you take a deposit?

No. You pay as the job goes, and the final payment is only due when it’s finished.
