Sheds, garden rooms & outbuildings
From a simple storage shed to a fully insulated garden office or workshop, built properly on a solid base and finished to last, not a flat-pack kit.
How much does a garden building cost?
Anything from about £500 for a simple storage shed to £20,000 or more for a fully insulated garden office with power and heating.
The price depends on the size, the base, the cladding, the doors and windows, and whether it needs insulation, power and heating. Every quote is broken down and agreed before we start.
Do I need planning permission for a garden building?
Usually not. Most sheds and garden buildings go under permitted development, as long as:
- it’s single storey, and not in front of the house
- it’s no taller than 2.5m if it’s within 2m of a boundary
- together with any other outbuildings and extensions, it doesn’t cover more than half the garden
- it isn’t used as a bedroom or separate home
Conservation areas and listed buildings have tighter rules. We check this at the quote stage.
Does a garden office need Building Regulations?
Usually not for a simple storage shed. A bigger insulated garden room with power and heating may need Building Regulations approval, depending on its size and how close it is to the house and boundaries. We’ll confirm it at your site visit.
What does our work look like?

Common questions
Can you build a garden office I can work in all year?
Yes. Insulated walls, floor and roof, double-glazed doors and windows, and power and heating make a garden office usable year round.
Do you build the base too?
Yes. A solid, level base is what makes a garden building last, so we build it as part of the job.
Do you take a deposit?
No. You pay as the job goes, and the final payment is only due when it’s finished.
